In his own words, this single is meant to show a different sonic side of the album\u2014a moment of breath and stillness, originally conceived as a set-closer to come down from the intensity of earlier tracks. The album drifts through themes of aging, memory, loss, and enduring connection\u2014the quiet devastations and soft salvations that stack up over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a record of middle age and reflection. It speaks to the slow-motion collapse of watching people you love slip away\u2014from addiction, from time, from themselves. It mourns the death of a beloved 17-year-old cat (we&#8217;re not crying, you are). It watches parents grow old. And yet, it\u2019s not just grief. There\u2019s warmth here too. The kind of love that stays intact, that you pick up years later as if no time has passed at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The songs came together over the span of two years, but they weren\u2019t labored over endlessly. Each track was captured in intense, immersive sessions\u2014a raw document of the moment more than a polished artifact. It\u2019s less about building something from scratch and more about revealing something that was already there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DIY Til the End<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Planning For Burial has always been fiercely independent. Wasluck writes, records, and mixes everything himself. He books his own tours, makes his own art, and plays solo as a one-man band. That raw ethos has earned him a cult following and a spot at&nbsp;<strong>Robert Smith\u2019s Meltdown Festival<\/strong>&nbsp;back in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now,&nbsp;<strong>20 years<\/strong>&nbsp;into the project, Planning For Burial remains as compelling and singular as ever. From the early days of&nbsp;<em>Leaving<\/em>&nbsp;in 2009 on Enemies List Home Recordings to his long-standing relationship with The Flenser, Wasluck has never wavered from his deeply personal, emotionally heavy sound\u2014a mix of ambient, doom, shoegaze, and post-rock that\u2019s been called&nbsp;<em>\u201cheavy ambient doomgaze\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;(thanks, Needle Drop).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Catch Planning For Burial On Tour<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Thom is hitting the road this summer for a massive North American tour.
