That\u2019s two of the best bands around in a week; I\u2019m not sure how we got so lucky to be honest. Brighton is a heartland we\u2019ve always loved, and the moment you hear Projector\u2019s huge angular riffs and shimmering dissonant melodies&#8230; it\u2019s like DITZ meets Scarfo\u2014or The Pixies if you\u2019re not deep in 1997 alt-indie. Producer Ben Hampson called it \u2018a fight in a big metal bin\u2019 and honestly, that\u2019s perfect.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Collision<\/em>: Mechanophilia Gets Loud<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The new track&nbsp;<strong><em>Collision<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;is inspired by J.G. Ballard\u2019s cult classic&nbsp;<em>Crash<\/em>\u2014yes, the one where people get all hot and bothered over car wrecks. \u201c<em>I tried to write it like a car that wants to\u2026 you know,<\/em>\u201d says guitarist Edward with a smirk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It starts off with twitchy, staccato art-rock vibes\u2014think Courting or Cheekface\u2014before launching into a dreamy, soaring chorus laced with intertwined vocals from Edward and bassist Lucy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Produced by Ben Hampson (DITZ, Lambrini Girls) and mastered by Katie Tavini, the track\u2019s video was directed by Sam Morris of Avocado Baby Films and set in a DIY garage dreamworld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c<em>I&#8217;m from a long line of South London mechanics but can\u2019t even change a wheel, so it felt right,\u201d<\/em> Lucy adds. \u201c<em>Plus, it suits Edward\u2019s deviant car lyrics.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PROJECTOR\u2019s Sonic Mayhem Rolls On<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>PROJECTOR first turned heads with their 2024 debut\u00a0\u2018Now When We Talk It\u2019s Violence\u2019\u2014a wild ride through post-punk, grunge, industrial noise and melodic pop hooks. It was DIY to the core, produced alongside longtime collaborator Ben Hampson, and packed with weirdness in the best way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their March 2025 single&nbsp;<em>The Sham! The Sham! The Sham!<\/em>&nbsp;was another sonic gut-punch\u2014jagged, dissonant and full of lyrical acid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Edward says: \u201c<em>It\u2019s a triptych of three arrogant characters, each hating the world and each other. The song\u2019s a clattering mess of atonal genres and unpleasant clanking. It even hates the listener.
