Now, decades after first hearing it as a wide-eyed 23-year-old, Wasif has released a stunning cover that threads that same emotional depth into a gorgeous, raw reimagining.

Recorded at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, Wasif’s version feels like a late-night confession under desert skies. It features Bobb Bruno (Best Coast) on bass and synths, and Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) on drums, both jumping into the session with zero overthinking—just pure musical instinct.
