The Cork five-piece just dropped their first new track of 2025,&nbsp;<em>Big Empty Heart<\/em>, a sweeping, accordion-laced waltz that blends romance, ghost stories, and synth nostalgia into one deeply moving listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The track was recorded at London\u2019s RAK Studios with producer Shrink and has been in the works for years. Frontman Euan Manning explains,&nbsp;\u201c<em>Big Empty Heart is a love song written from beyond the grave. It is a waltz as waltzes are the most romantic kinds of songs. The haunting accordion loops and slow dance tempo feel like a lost Pogues track filtered through a shoegaze dream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Heavy Praise from All Sides<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cardinals aren\u2019t just turning heads\u2014they\u2019re breaking necks. They&#8217;ve already been dubbed&nbsp;<em>\u201cthe next great guitar band to emerge from Ireland\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>Rolling Stone UK<\/strong>, and outlets like&nbsp;<strong>The Sunday Times<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>NME<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>CLASH<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Stereogum<\/strong>&nbsp;have all praised their genre-melting sound that draws from Eighties indie, goth-glam, and Celtic shoegaze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even&nbsp;<strong>Cillian Murphy<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Grian Chatten<\/strong>&nbsp;of Fontaines D.C., and&nbsp;<strong>Kneecap<\/strong>&nbsp;are shouting them out as one of the most exciting new Irish acts.
