Toronto punk artist ThxSoMch has taken his latest single Unhinged<\/em> to a whole new level\u2014literally covering an art gallery in wild black splatter paint under strobe lights. Teaming up with contemporary artist Jack Carden, the track\u2019s chaotic energy comes alive in the dark, flashy new video, out now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unhinged<\/em> almost didn\u2019t exist. Born from a voice recording ThxSoMch made back in 2023, the idea kept resurfacing until he finally decided to record it while working on his upcoming album. \u201cI didn\u2019t think much of it and just posted it,<\/em>\u201d he admits. \u201cTo my surprise, it became a fan favourite.\u201d<\/em> Finished after the album was technically done, the track became a late but necessary addition to his debut full-length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That debut record\u2014\u2018The Sound of You Laughing\u2019\u2014is out August 29 via Atlantic Records and already feels like one of the most anticipated punk releases of the year. Produced by grayskies (d4vd, Wisp) and mixed by Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, The 1975), the album channels raw emotion, 90s alt-rock nostalgia, and the restless energy of someone trying to turn chaos into clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The process of making it was anything but ordinary. ThxSoMch spent seven months in Brazil, completely cut off from his usual world. \u201cNo phone, no English, no sense of time\u2014just a flow state,<\/em>\u201d he recalls. \u201cCreating this was like a cigarette after a long craving. I hope it can be that for someone else too\u2014a fix, a release, something to hold onto when everything else slips.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result? A record that\u2019s unrestrained, cathartic, and brimming with jagged honesty. \u201cIt isn\u2019t a cure\u2014it\u2019s a distraction,<\/em>\u201d he says. \u201cA pause. A breath between breakdowns. You can\u2019t laugh forever. You laugh until you choke. And then it\u2019s not so funny anymore.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fans already got a taste with the single Sound of You Laughing<\/em>, which Wonderland Magazine praised as a \u201csad boi banger with snappy, emotive vocals and heady, guitar-led instrumentation.<\/em>\u201d It follows his viral 2022 breakthrough SPIT IN MY FACE!<\/em>\u2014a track that\u2019s racked up over 672 million streams on Spotify and even landed on the Billboard Hot 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now with over a billion career streams, three tracks passing the 100M mark, and a loyal fanbase that\u2019s grown from Rolling Loud sets to international tours, ThxSoMch is stepping into a new chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
