Rising five-piece\u00a0<strong>HIGHDRIVE<\/strong>\u00a0are back with their second single\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/lnk.to\/somethingisaid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Something I Said<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, out now via tastemaker label\u00a0<strong>Venn Records<\/strong>\u00a0(home to the likes of\u00a0<strong>Bob Vylan<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Witch Fever<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>High Vis<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following last year\u2019s debut&nbsp;<em>Cherry<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Something I Said<\/em>&nbsp;feels like a mission statement. Produced by&nbsp;<strong>Guy Page<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>Coach Party<\/strong>, the track is a jagged blast of anxiety-soaked alt-rock \u2014 all wailing guitars, claustrophobic tension, and the kind of internal monologue that won\u2019t shut up at 3am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0hObClESjFY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Formed in 2024, HIGHDRIVE bonded over shared obsessions with\u00a0<strong>Deftones<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>The Jesus and Mary Chain<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>DIIV<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 influences that echo through their sound without ever weighing it down. Before even dropping a track, the band had already carved out a reputation on the South Coast live circuit, sharing stages with\u00a0<strong>Marmozets<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>English Teacher<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Do Nothing<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>TTSSFU<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>DEADLETTER<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Welly<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Glare<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lyrically,&nbsp;<em>Something I Said<\/em>&nbsp;dives headfirst into self-doubt and spiralling paranoia. Vocalist Lucas Leitch describes it as a snapshot of being trapped inside your own thoughts \u2014 replaying conversations, questioning every word, and convincing yourself you\u2019ve said the wrong thing (again).
