{"id":45722,"date":"2026-06-17T12:15:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T16:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=45722"},"modified":"2026-06-07T08:38:53","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T12:38:53","slug":"sandhouse-return-with-seductive-new-single-pollyanna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=45722","title":{"rendered":"Sandhouse return with seductive new single \u2018Pollyanna\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">South London duo Sandhouse are back with a new one, and it&#8217;s a slow-burn stunner. <em>Pollyanna<\/em> is their latest single \u2014 a glimpse into a forthcoming project that the pair are keeping tantalizingly close to the chest for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opening with glassy electronics before rupturing into distorted guitars and blown-out alt-rock catharsis, <em>Pollyanna<\/em> pairs Anna Sutherland&#8217;s featherlight vocals with lyrics that feel seductive and darkly playful \u2014 romantic fantasy gradually curdling into something more obsessive and difficult to control. Classic Sandhouse, really: dreamy on the surface, unsettling underneath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band had this to say about the track:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<em>&#8216;Pollyanna&#8217; is about becoming numbed by the cinema of infatuation, and using the fairytale of romance to blindly ignore any signs of reality.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/P8OnqWaRJjw?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consisting of Anna Sutherland and Caspar Holloway, Sandhouse carve out a sound that folds together grunge guitars, bleary trip-hop production, warped psychedelia and nocturnal alt-pop \u2014 and they&#8217;ve been doing it well enough to turn heads at The Line of Best Fit, DIY Magazine, Dork Magazine, Under The Radar, Rolling Stone UK and more. Their 2025 debut EP &#8216;Circus&#8217; is closing in on 4 million streams on Spotify, with BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing all lending their support (including a Track of the Week nod from the latter).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the live side, sold-out headline shows at Corsica Studios, The Lexington and Peckham Audio have been building the band&#8217;s reputation largely through word of mouth \u2014 no small feat \u2014 alongside support runs with Dove Ellis, PORIJ, Bleach Lab and Panic Shack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Pollyanna<\/em> is out now via Broke Records.
