Introducing: Labirinto – Brazilian prog-rock

Labirinto

Formed in mid-2003 by friends who sought to combine their musical and personal influences through instrumental composition, Labirinto seeks to create textures and atmospheres full of imagery. Labirinto’s music is a sonic experiment and they bring the listener along for the beautiful ride.

The band’s most recent full length album ‘Anatema’ is available on deluxe digipack CD and double LP. The album was mixed at the Electrical Audio Studio in Chicago by Greg Norman (Pelican/Russian Circles) and mastered by Bob Weston (Shellac/Mission of Burma/Sebadoh). It is an amazing orchestral, prog-rock journey across its 6 track, which are in the vein of Godspeed! You Black Emperor and Mogwai. About Anatema, the band states that it “presents a conceptual narrative about creation, destruction and the eternal reconstruction of the world”. It is beautifully package with stunning illustrations by João Ruas, a renowned American comic book.

Labirinto’s new track Cairo was featured on the charity ‘More Hope for Japan’ compilation, together with Thisquietarmy, Kontakte, Her name is Calla, and Signal Hill. The track will be also available on a new EP due for release in early 2012 by Dissenso Records on 12″ vinyl and CD (special 500 copies limited edition), which is still untitled.

To promote the new EP, the band will embark on their second international tour to USA and Canada in March and April 2012, with shows at Canadian Music Fest and Casa del Popolo (Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s venue in Montreal).

Cairo is available as a stream on the ‘More Hope for Japan’ compilation’s Soundcloud.
