Julia Why? share new single ‘Pocket’

Julia Why?

Sydney based Julia Why? has shared their new unapologetic single Pocket, lifted from their forthcoming album. They’ll also be taking their music to the people with a mega east coast tour this September. Take a listen to Pocket via Soundcloud below.

Drenched in distortion, Pocket is slower than what’s expected for the garage-rock trio but no less devastating. Commenting on recent reforms, Julia Wylie explains, “I wrote this song after the government announced it wanted to drug test welfare recipients. When people are down and out, they need help – not another knee-jerk policy that demonisesvulnerable people and does nothing to address what leads to addiction in the first place.”

Julia Why? first broke onto the scene winning triple j unearthed’s NIDA competition, scoring them a video clip by the best up and comers in the biz for single Just One Night. Lead by rebel girl Julia Wylie, the band garnered praise from all corners of the globe, touring extensively through Australia and Canada. Their acclaimed debut record Wheel (2015) left their mark in America, reaching #13 on the US College Radio Charts.

From melodic, attention grabbers to rapid fire 90s alt-rock; Where the band really shine is in their visceral live set. This reputation gained them coveted supports including Hinds, Waxahatchee, The Courtneys, The Lemon Twigs and Fat White Family.
