Enigmatic Melbourne producer Life Is Better Blonde is back with an impeccably restorative, expressive cover of Mariah Carey’s 2018 track GTFO.

He says: “I’m a long time Mariah fan, it just made sense for me to cover one of her tracks sooner or later. GTFO is hypnotic and rhythmically slick – I recreated the groove using my own samples but felt drawn to staying fairly true in many ways to the original.” Listen to the cover version via YiuTube below.

Drawn to down tempo, lumbering kind of grooves, Life is Better Blonde’s music is inspired by sonic accidents, broken sounding things and old voice memos. His recent tracks, Strange Organism and My God is Not Going To Like You is the first encounter between Life is Better Blonde and producer Andrei Eremin, whose previous credits include working with Grammy nominated Hiatus Kaiote and Chet Faker.

Life is Better Blonde is the result of lost and discovered voice memos, late night musings and discarded production scraps. Taking cues from the likes of James Blake, Arthur Russell and Thundercat, the music is both introverted and deeply personal, while displaying a grit common to glitch and electronica.

His 2019 EP ‘Like Me’ drew acclaim from the likes of Clash, Complex and Dummy Magazine, including radio support from 1Xtra’s Jamz Supernova. The debut EP ‘Space + Tyres’ in released in 2017 through Majestic Casual, created instant attention with air play on BBC 1 XTRA and Triple J, and online features with Indie Shuffle and Huffington Post among others. The 5-track EP also featured Triple J Awarding song, ‘Mine’.
