The Lovely Eggs announce new album ‘This Is Eggland’

The Lovely Eggs

The Lovely EggsNorthern England psych-punks, The Lovely Eggs, announced their upcoming new album, the Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips/MGMT/Spoon/Weezer/Tame Impala/Sleater-Kinney) mixed, ‘This Is Eggland’. It will be released on February 16 via Egg Records. To give us a first taste of the album, Holly Ross (guitar/vocals) and David Blackwell (drums) with the single I Shouldn’t Have Said That, which will be out on November 3rd.  Watch the video, directed by Casey Raymond (Sleaford Mods/Cate Le Bon/John Grant), featuring a guest appearance from Bob of ‘Twin Peaks’, via YouTube below.

I Shouldn’t Have Said That arrives on limited-edition, black & white, 7″ vinyl, accompanied by bespoke artwork by Turner-Prize nominated outsider artist David Shrigley.  Lurching, reeling and spitting with anger and regret, the song perfectly encapsulates the kitchen-sink realism of a good old verbal brawl. Heavier that anything they’ve done before, the track is inspired by the motoric Krautrock of Neu!, with David’s drum beats laying the foundation for a blistering, in-your-face slice of punk rock attitude and Holly’s vocals a screaming drawl, with swirling synths and distorted guitar providing an intense psychedelic squall.
