Fresh off a sold‑out February UK tour and a triumphant debut at SXSW, London’s very own art‑punk provocateurs Man/Woman/Chainsaw are back with Adam & Steve, their boldest, most melodic single yet. Produced at RAK Studios by Seth Evans & Margo Broom (façade/pummelled by Geordie Greep vibes), the track weaves dual vocals from Billy Ward and Vera Leppänen into a bittersweet love song that balances fairy‑tale longing with raw modern romance.

We wrote ‘Adam & Steve’ last year as our take on a heart‑on‑sleeve love song,” explains Billy. “It comes from a place of wanting to find a little fairy‑tale escapism in modern romance.”

Expect winding guitar lines, tight rhythms and a chorus that sticks like glue—this one’s designed to soundtrack every moment between hope and heartbreak.

What the press is saying

London’s live circuit has never been the same since these six teenagers stormed in. Critics can’t seem to get enough:

  • The Line Of Best Fit calls them “the most exciting live band in London right now.”
  • The Guardian praises their “taut chaos and wry lyrics.”
  • Stereogum crowned them a “Band To Watch,” noting how “every song has its own unpredictable flavour but flows from the same collective consciousness.”
  • Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music admitted, “I won’t lie, I fucking love this band.”
  • Rolling Stone UK hailed them as “the teenage five‑piece making a thrilling noise.”
  • NME dubbed their debut EP Eazy Peazy “raw, ambitious and electrifying forward‑thinking rock.”
  • DORK predicts “the future looks bright for Man/Woman/Chainsaw.”
  • CLASH raved that “‘Ode To Clio’ smashes together contradictory ideas into one riveting whole.”
  • The Quietus calls “‘What Lucy Found There’ a swooning, shapeshifting, melodramatic earworm.”
  • So Young Magazine agrees it’s “a virtuoso example of a band taking the listener on an emotional whirlwind.”
  • DIY notes their latest release “hums with the layered energy clearly honed on stage.”

The Rise of Man/Woman/Chainsaw

Formed when its members were still in school, the band exploded onto the scene with three self‑released singles before dropping ‘What Lucy Found There’ in 2023—a breakthrough that earned nods from The Quietus, NME, BBC 6 Music and beyond. Celebrating their 100th gig last autumn, they teamed up with Gilla Band’s Daniel Fox to record ‘Eazy Peazy’ at Eastbourne’s Echo Zoo, blending cinematic arrangements with moments of glorious, controlled chaos.

We thrive on the thin line between pretty and noisy,” says Billy. “That chaos is our playground.”
