A Legacy of Experimental Artistry
Recently awarded a 9.3 score by Pitchfork for their 1991 classic ‘Yerself Is Steam,’ Mercury Rev continues to push boundaries while staying true to their roots inpsychedelic rock and avant-garde experimentation.
With ‘Born Horses,’ the band channels the progressive energy of avant-garde legends like Tony Conrad and beat poet Robert Creeley, both of whom were pivotal figures in the creative scene of Buffalo, NY, where Mercury Rev was formed.
This new album is a sonic odyssey—a shimmering blend of heroic indie rock, jazz-infused orchestration, and poetic introspection—that cements Mercury Rev as one of the most bold and visionary acts in modern music.
