Psychedelic supergroup MIEN return with Silent Golden, the latest track from their upcoming album ‘MIIEN’, out April 18 via Fuzz Club. This mesmerizing, shape-shifting song is a testament to the band’s ability to fuse hypnotic grooves, cinematic textures, and unexpected instrumentation into something truly transportive.
The Evolution of Silent Golden
Silent Golden has had a long and fascinating journey. Originally conceived as an instrumental demo by Tom Furse of The Horrors, the track sat in the vault until MIEN revisited it during the sessions for their second album. The band saw immense potential but needed to find the missing pieces.
“We all could hear great potential in it as a MIEN track, but weren’t sure where it was going to go or how we’d get it there,” the band explains. “As is often the case, we wanted to get it to a place where it sparked something for Alex to dream up a vocal for it. To add to Tom’s demo, we recorded some thunderous drums and a bassline that gave it a new groove. Alex recorded some surprisingly sweet vocals and a gentle acoustic guitar part that brought it home. The last piece to fall in place was bringing in Thor Harris to add his signature clarinet and percussion.”
The result is a spellbinding fusion of driving rhythm, ethereal melodies, and deep sonic layers—proving once again that MIEN are masters of their craft.

Beyond Silent Golden – The Making of ‘MIIEN’
With ‘MIIEN,’ the band pushes their boundary-breaking sound even further. Recorded between Montreal, Abilene, and Austin, the album reflects their signature collaborative approach—tracks passed between members, layered, and meticulously shaped into immersive sonic landscapes.
MIEN is:
Alex Maas (The Black Angels) – vocals, bass, guitar
Rishi Dhir (Elephant Stone) – bass, guitar, keyboards
John-Mark Lapham (The Earlies) – keyboards, samples, programming
Robb Kidd (Golden Dawn Arkestra) – drums
Together, they craft music that blurs the lines between past and future psychedelia, embracing everything from hypnotic loops to textural experimentalism.
