24-Date Amphitheater Tour Kicks Off May 16 – Tickets On Sale Friday, January 31 at 10 AM Local Time
British new wave and post-punk legends Modern English are hitting the road this summer for an epic 24-date North American tour alongside Scottish icons Simple Minds and electronic pioneers Soft Cell. Produced by Live Nation, this massive amphitheater tour will be Simple Minds’ biggest North American run in four decades, and it all kicks off May 16 in Ridgefield, WA.
Tickets go on sale Friday, January 31 at 10 AM local time.
This tour comes as Modern English continue their resurgence, with a new album, a milestone achievement for I Melt With You, and sold-out shows proving their staying power.
A Career-Spanning Celebration – With a Brand New Album
2024 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Modern English. I Melt With You—the band’s enduring classic—was just honored with the BMI Million-Air Award for surpassing 8 million broadcast performances. Meanwhile, their latest album, ‘1 2 3 4,’ produced by Mario J. McNulty (David Bowie, Lou Reed, Nine Inch Nails), has received rave reviews for its sharp-edged new wave sound and bold political edge.

Featuring a mix of post-punk bite, keyboard-driven anthems, and simmering darkwave gems, the album finds Modern English reflecting on themes of aging, love, politics, and the environment—while staying true to their signature sound.
Modern English: Still Innovators, Still Influencing
From their early days as post-punk pioneers to their enduring presence today, Modern English have consistently pushed boundaries. Their 1982 album ‘After the Snow,’ featuring the hit I Melt With You, was a defining moment for the band, blending moody atmospheres with shimmering guitars and synth-driven hooks. Decades later, their influence continues to grow, as younger generations discover their catalog and new artists cite them as inspiration.
“It’s been a big journey for everybody, and our early days are really important to us,” says frontman Robbie Grey. “We haven’t changed that much—we’re still the same people inside. And the original members are the sound of the band. If you take away some of those components, you don’t have Modern English.”
From sold-out performances of their classic albums to a main stage appearance at 2023’s Cruel World Festival in front of 25,000 people, Modern English continue to prove that their music transcends generations.
Now, they’re bringing that energy to North America, hitting some of the biggest venues of their career.
