Monograms premiere new tracks ‘Something’ + ‘Downer’

Monograms

Brooklyn’s new-wave-garage-psych trio, Monograms, have premiered their new single Something. The track is the second single from the group’s upcoming ‘Downer EP,’ which is due out February 18. Take a listen to Something via ThrdCoast below.

“[Something is] an emphatically guitar-forward track, replete with vocals that sound straight out of a late-’90s grunge—it’d be easy to sit back and let the nostalgic angst wash over you if you weren’t so busy jumping around and head banging.” – ThrdCoast

The first single came out courtesy of CMJ, the music publication teamed up with Monograms to unveil the title track from the EP ‘Downer’ (which can be streamed HERE).

More about Monograms? Monograms is Brooklyn’s New-Wave-Garage-Psych. A Digital Rock. A Vintage Future. In Brooklyn, NYC, a guy with a guitar and a drum machine began writing and recording songs in his apartment. Sonic elements fused garage & indie rock with synth heavy psych sounds and driving drum beats, culminating with a debut release (Fader EP) in June of 2014 under the moniker “Monograms”.

The project quickly expanded from a solo experiment to a full band endeavor, performing constantly and supporting international indie regulars (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Girl Band, DMA’s, The Wytches, The Blind Shake, Heat, Sunflower Bean, Quilt and Spires), tabbing writers from CMJ, Impose, We All Want Something to Shout For, Pancakes and Whiskey and others to take note of their enveloping dynamics.

With heavy melodic threads, lucid rhythms, new-wave tones and surfy guitar riffs, the band points their influences at previous decades in DIY and college radio, as well as contemporary lo-fi vibes that pull from similar genres.
