Monster Treasure shares ‘Buttercream’ video

Monster Treasure

Monster TreasureStockton based Monster Treasure has shared the video for their new single Buttercream. The song is the second track to be revealed from the band’s forthcoming second album ‘II,’ following their track Leave. The LP will be released via Leisure & District on October 6th this year on CD, digital download and cool rainbow splatter vinyl. Watch the video for Buttercream via Vevo below.

Vocalist/guitarist Briana Granados explains the track: “Rachel (bass/vocals) told me that this song is about when “surrendering to love is like butter.” I might be biased but Rachel writes the best songs about fallin’ in love!”

Filmed mainly on an old camcorder, the psychedelically illustrative music video for “Buttercream” features dance moves inspired by multiple sources from New Edition to ZZ Top and, as Briana reveals, “My mom made us the cake specifically for the video. It was vegan! And delicious! Thanks Mom!”

A shower of fuzz, punk rock, and lugubrious despondence, II takes Monster Treasure’s sonic dreamy grunge and soul baring lyrics further than ever before. Full of scuzzed up riffs and otherworldly melody, it’s almost impossible to listen to the full record without hitting repeat multiple times on multiple songs. Imagine Blondie rocking out an unknown Nirvana cover at CBGB’s in the early 80s before grunge even existed and you might be halfway there.
