As a follow-up from their debut album ‘3D Routine’, Leeds art rockers Mush have shared their new single Fear Index. They also announced details of their upcoming five track 7” EP ‘Great Artisanal Formats’, which will be released via Memphis Industries on 20th June for Record Store Day 2020. Listen to Fear Index via YouTube below.

Fear Index is a crisp one minute forty seconds, juxtaposing lead-singer Dan Hyndman’s existential woes against absurdist guitar wrangling. Lifted from their new EP ‘Great Artisanal Formats’, Dan Hyndman explains how the EP came to be:

We felt like we wanted to be back in the studio ASAP after finishing ‘3D Routine’. This was a strange record because we had the idea for it, in terms of format, before writing any of the songs. I’ve always enjoyed the early punk budget 7″ E.P’s and also I’ve always wanted to do a Record Store Day release. It’s weirder than the album, very much a throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks approach. Which with our sensibilities means it’s ended up more guitar laden and busier than ever. Lyrically more abstract than record, bit of a breather from the politics.

Mush’s debut album ‘3D Routine‘ is out now. It was recorded at the tail end of summer of 2019 at Green Door Studio in Glasgow and mixed by Andy Savours (Dream Wife, Our Girl, My Bloody Valentine).
