Kill Rock Stars has announced the release of ‘Girl Germs,’ a five-episode podcast miniseries detailing the recording and release of Bratmobile’s seminal riot grrrl album, ‘Pottymouth’. Kill Rock Stars president and host of ‘The Future of What,’ Portia Sabin interviews key players in the scene to look back at how an underground feminist punk movement set off a global music revolution. The series celebrates Pottymouth’s 25th anniversary and its upcoming Vinyl Me, Please reissue.
The podcast will be available for free via Apple, Stitcher, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, and other platforms.

More about Bratmobile
Bratmobile was a first-generation riot grrrl band. Formed when University of Oregon students Allison Wolfe and Molly Neuman collaborated on a noted feminist fanzine, ‘Girl Germs,’ Bratmobile played its first show as a two-woman act at Olympia’s North Shore Surf Club on Valentine’s Day, 1991. Calvin Johnson (Beat Happening, K Records) had previously introduced Molly to guitarist Erin Smith from Bethesda, MD in December, 1990 at a Nation of Ulysses show in Washington, DC. Smith was the author of the much-revered TV pop culture fanzine ‘Teenage Gang Debs’ when Allison and Molly asked her to jam with them. It clicked, and in July 1991 the trio played their first show as a 3-piece with Molly Neuman on drums, Erin Smith on guitar, and Allison Wolfe on vocals.
Between 1991 and 1994, Bratmobile released the classic album ‘Pottymouth’ and ‘The Real Janelle’ EP on Kill Rock Stars before their breakup in 1994. Neuman began working at East Bay punk record label Lookout! Records and played in The PeeChees and The Frumpies. Allison Wolfe moved to DC where she and Erin Smith started Cold Cold Hearts.
In 2000, Bratmobile reunited to release their second full length studio album, ‘Ladies, Women and Girls’. The album delighted critics and earned Bratmobile new fans as they toured with Sleater-Kinney, The Donnas, The Locust, and more. On May 7, 2002, Bratmobile released their third album, ‘Girls Get Busy’.
