Northern Maverick Brewing Co. is celebrating its first anniversary this month after a successful year of craft brewing. The King West restaurant-brewery will mark the occasion with three days of specials dedicated to honouring the art of beer from Friday, September 21 to Sunday, October 7 to coincide with Oktoberfest.
In its first year, Northern Maverick has racked up impressive stats, illustrating that Toronto can’t get enough of the coveted creations by the growing brew-pub:
- 125,000 visitors
- 400,000 beers sold
- 61,806 oysters shucked
- 10,317 hamburgers grilled
- 3,155 Old Fashioneds smoked
- 4,374 mimosas poured
- 150 batches brewed
“It has been an unforgettable first year at our brewery and restaurant,” says Jason Kaptyn, Owner, Northern Maverick Brewing Co. “We’re remarkably proud of our Brewmaster and Brewing team for their accomplishments at this year’s Ontario Brewing Awards. To celebrate being honoured with two coveted awards, our anniversary and Oktoberfest festivities, we are releasing two new brews – a limited edition lager and a dark sour – both will be available at Northern Maverick for all our guests to enjoy. We couldn’t be more excited about the future and continuing to create innovative brews for Torontonians.”
Festbier, the full-bodied, smooth brew with rich malt flavours paired with a subtle hit of noble German hops will be the official commemorative beer this year. Northern Maverick will also launch its inaugural barrel-aged beer, Captains Keep, which has been aged for six months in Caribbean rum barrels. The warming, dark sour is a Sour Belgian brown ale, with notes of dark rum, dried fruit, chocolate and tart granny smith apples.
Along with the special anniversary ales, Northern Maverick will welcome Torontonians to an exclusive beer pairing dinner featuring chef’s selections, paired perfectly with a combination of house-made brews. The four-course dinner will be available for $50 and guests can add a tasting flight pairing for an additional $25 to accompany their meal.
Anniversary specials will be available from Friday, September 21 to Sunday, October 7. Northern Maverick is open daily for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. To book a reservation, please visit Northernmeverick.ca or call 416-540-4030.
