NYC post-punk rascals Free $$$ release fresh EP ‘Support’

Brooklyn post-punk outfit, Free $$$ will release their second EP, ‘Support,’ on August 8th. The trio originally set their sights on a dream pop sound that evolved slowly but with every session it became something much heavier, creating a sound reminiscent of Parquet Courts, Protomartyr, and IDLES—who they opened for on their first American tour.

‘Support’ was recorded and mixed by Adam Reich, (Titus Andronicus and The So So Glos). The EP is a release bound to the agitation of the year it was born; each song filled with anxiety but ending before the listener can get sick on its fever. This is coupled with the band’s vocalist / guitarist Ben Petrisor’s scattered croon-scream lyrics, of which we find a mind cornered in its beliefs, oscillating between self-righteousness and self-consciousness.

They’ll be performing their EP release show at Alphaville on August 8th with Opto S, Bad Kiss, and Frog.
