Phèdre share new single, ‘Swipe’

Phèdre

Melted experimental-pop duo Phèdre make music for escaping, music for spiralling into the rhythms of nightfall’s other dimensions. Their visually evocative soundscapes form like a great comic book: bright colours, psychedelic textures and otherworldly stories. Back in 2016, Phèdre toured the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, and Tokyo. Group member Lee Paradise compiled footage of that trip to form the video for their latest single, Swipe. Check it out via YouTube below.

Swipe is about the presentation of self in the modern world: posing with a wild animal, getting a new haircut, or public displays of inward reflection. Phèdre completed the song in The Philippines when Kanye West’s ‘The Life of Pablo’ had just come out. Initially Swipe was going to be one long repetitive groove, but the vibrations of the Pacific ocean pushed for a bombastic chorus. Swipe is also about a party, dancing ’till you get sick, karaoke, new encounters, enjoyment of life, and Bongga Bongga.

Phèdre has toured in North America, Europe and Asia, including playing shows in Mexico, Russia and South Korea. 2018 will see them entering a new cycle, with their upcoming release, Bongga Bongga (Forever Phèdre). They will be on tour in Europe this spring, taking 2 of their rapper comrades with them, Lil Gay and Arowbe.
