Newcastle’s Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs return with their fifth studio album, ‘Death Hilarious,’ set for release on April 4 via Missing Piece Records (North America) and Rocket Recordings (Rest of the World). The record promises a brutal sonic assault, shifting between Sabbathian doom, blistering noise rock, and cyclical post-metal fortissimos.

With the announcement, the band has unleashed their latest single, Stitches, a track that delivers searing intensity and raw vulnerability. The song arrives alongside abizarre, grotesque animated video directed by Ben Faircloth, depicting the band being mutated and mutilated by monstrous hybrid creatures from alternate dimensions of nightmares.

Matt Baty on Stitches

“I’m aware our band exists in a space dominated by bravado, confidence, and machoism,” says frontman Matt Baty“But ‘Stitches’ is an expression of vulnerability, paradoxical emotions, and the anxiety that comes with clashing against societal expectations. It’s about the constant internal battle of who we’re supposed to be versus who we actually are.”

The single follows Detroit, released in November, which Consequence hailed as a“five-plus-minute crusher” and named their “Heavy Song of the Week.” With praise from BrooklynVegan, Metal Injection, Stereogum, and more, Death Hilarious is shaping up to be Pigs’ most ferocious and unrelenting album yet.

An Album That Hits Like a Freight Train

After 2023’s ‘Land of Sleeper’ was designed as a headphones-driven, immersive experience, the band wanted to shift gears—to make something that hits like a punch to the face.

“We wanted it to be a slap in the face,” says guitarist and producer Sam Grant.Years of relentless touring sharpened the band’s sound to its rawest and most visceral form. The result? An album that replicates the unrelenting energy of their live shows, giving listeners the same pummeling their audience experiences in the pit.

Lyrically, Death Hilarious was born out of Matt Baty’s struggle with anxiety, which left him questioning whether he even had anything left to say. The only way forward was to embrace the uncertainty.

“I realized that my fear of losing my voice was actually my muse,” Baty reflects. “So instead of fighting it, I channeled it into the record. I gave all these thoughts an outlet, in the hope of exorcising them.”
