Calgary based post-punk band Port Juvee have shared the title track from their forthcoming full-length. Motion Control is a supercharged rocker accompanied by a lo-fi video that features trippy retro-futuristic visuals. Port Juvee’s forthcoming record ‘MOTION CONTROL’ will be out on February 28th via Canadian DIY-label Garment District Records. Watch the video for Motion Control via YouTube below.

Despite hailing from the landlocked city of Calgary, Canada, Port Juvee’s sound feels unequivocally tied to New York City post-punk with a dash of coastal California surf. Maybe it has to do with the nondescript landscape of endless prairie land and suburban sprawl, but these Canadians have taken to Calgary’s ebbing punk and art scene for solace.

The band made waves with their self-released 2016 debut, ‘CRIMEWAVE,‘ followed by performances at SXSW, CMW, Rifflandia and subsequent tours with contemporaries like DIIV, POND, Twin Peaks, Titus Andronicus and more.

‘MOTION CONTROL‘ is the forthcoming follow-up to ‘CRIMEWAVE’ and sees the band expanding their sound on a deeper level. They’ve teamed up with producer Justin Gerrish who happened to stumble across an early Port Juvee demo at a house party. He dug it so much he decided to connect with the band and invite them to his home-studio “Hook & Fade Studios” in Brooklyn, NY.

‘MOTION CONTROL’ sees the band addressing themes of communication and a subsequent breakdown in an age of endless technological advancement. The lead single, Hope to Lose tackles a flawed model of success thrust upon current generations by previous ones. Desert Moon Palace is an introspectivesurfy jam that reflects on life decisions and the never-ending search for more. Tropics sees the band experimenting with a softer, slow-burning approach and title track Motion Control is a futuristic odyssey fueled by anxious synths and cinematic stylings.
