Silent Pictures release trippy new video for ‘Time Has Broken’

Silent Pictures

Following the released of their sophomore album ‘Let It Begin,’ the Bay Area’s Silent Pictures gives the reverb-laden track Time Has Broken the video treatment. Filmed at an early 19th century Rosicrucian Temple, the shaky visuals contain cult symbolism and connections to global secret societies, creating an effect of time becoming meaningless. ‘Let It Begin’ is now available via Green Fuse Records.

The full album drifts from ethereal glam rock to noisy psychedelic shoegaze to pure Britpop, an indication of the wide-ranging experience of the musicians that make up Silent Pictures. Led by Alexander Mann, The skill level allows for the record to float between genres seamlessly, unable to stick to one certain genre, or even stay under the “psych” umbrella. Brian Jonestown Massacre comes to mind, as member Ricky Maymi had a hand in production, yet it’s easy to compare tracks like Twisted Smiles to Britpop trailblazers like the Jesus and Mary Chain and the Stone Roses. Not to be nailed down to one era either, Silent Pictures could be perfectly in line on a bill with more modern bands like Allah Lahs or Diiv.

The band will also make an appearance at this fall’s Desert Stars Festival in Joshua Tree along Dinosaur Jr. and others, September 23rd-24th. In the meantime, ‘Let It Begin’ can be found on all DSPs, and the Time Has Broken is now available via What Youth.
