San Francisco-based indie quintet, Sporting Life, have announced their 11 track self-titled LP, which will be available February 3, 2015.

To celebrate the release, they have shared the video for the first single, Tsunami. “The lyrics came from watching a documentary called Tsunami and the Cherry Tree, which was about the earthquake and tidal wave in Japan, and how the people affected by it were resilient in the face of grief and loss,” explains Keith Brasel, one of Sporting Life’s guitarist and singer. “The guitars, later expanded by Ryan McGee, take this song to another level that I didn’t expect.” Watch the video for Tsunami below via Vimeo.

Recorded in their practice space at LightRail Studios in the Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco, the band broke just about every studio “rule” in order to craft their wall of sound. After recording double and triple layers of each guitar, the band then filled in the drums and additional instruments. The sonic textures are clear in tracks such as Spoil yr Party and Tsunami. The album, mixed by Phil Manley at Lucky Cat in San Francisco.
