They’ve also shared the official video for Ants. Filmed at a recent show at The Echo in Los Angeles and directed by Chris Blauvelt and Autumn de Wilde, it captures the four-piece’s wildly exhilarating live performance which has earned them a rapt following in their home town. Watch it via YouTube below.

Starcrawler formed one year ago when lead vocalist Arrow de Wilde first met guitarist Henri Cash at their Echo Park high school. Shortly thereafter, the streets of Hollywood brought them the rhythm section of Austin Smith (drums) and Tim Franco (bass). They play with squalling riffs and thundering beats, and their incendiary live shows, fronted by de Wilde’s otherworldly magnetism, recalls nothing as much as a youthful amalgam of the Cramps, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Alice Cooper.

As Arrow explains in a recent interview with The Modern Girls: I went through a period of time…where I was really angry and frustrated. I wanted to start a band so badly because the band I had with my friends (before Starcrawler) had fallen apart. So I started watching live videos of The Runaways and studying Cherie Currie’s moves as well as Iggy Pop and Kiss. I slowly started to create this character, this alter ego maniac.”

Starcrawler will be playing their first ever UK shows later this month, followed by shows opening for CRX, a new band featuring Nick Valensi of The Strokes.
