Brooklyn-based artist and producer Stimmerman has just shared a new single, It Shows, which is the second lifted from their forthcoming full-length, ‘Goofballs‘. Listen to It Shows via SoundCloud below.
A native New Yorker, Stimmerman is the recording moniker of Eva Lawitts, a music lifer having played on records/toured with artists like Vagabon and Princess Nokia. Lawitts is 1/2 of the team behind Wonderpark Studios in Brooklyn.
Lawitts explains; “‘Goofballs’ is the first full-length album I’m releasing under the name Stimmerman. The album is more or less about loss and survivor’s guilt- it’s a meditation on a friend’s fatal drug overdose at a young age through that lens. Side A of the album focuses on looking back at the environment in which our friendship started- pressures imposed on children to be successful, growing up too fast in all the wrong ways, and the often-debauched nature of our great and terrible adolescence here in Brooklyn. Side B centers me more as an unreliable narrator, and features songs about grief and culpability in a close friend’s death some of which are, I believe, misguided.
The name ‘Goofballs’ is twofold: I think this album recaptures some of the sense of humor my other projects have had that the first Stimmerman EP lacked, and of course there is the drug allusion: ‘Goofballs’ meaning barbiturates or any cocktail thereof.”
‘Goofballs‘ is out later this December.
