Stones Throw & Leaving Records announce double cassette compilation

Stones Throw Records & Leaving Records have announced ‘Dual Form,’ a 53 minute compilation available on double cassette on November 6th, 2012 and Vinyl / CD / Digital on January 22, 2013. Leaving Records is a Los Angeles based hand-curated cassette label with solid boutique status and DIY style. For ‘Dual Form,’ Leaving Records teams up for the first time with Stones Throw Records. The partnership makes complete sense since the two labels are both based in the Highland Park neighborhood of Northeast Los Angeles and share a similar spirit and an enthusiasm for outsider music and art.

‘Dual Form’ reflects Leaving Records’ mantra: an elevated level of experimentation combined with the twinning beliefs that art is sacred and music is magic. This compilation could have easily been a retrospective of Leaving Records’ “greatest hits,” but that’d be a disingenuous introduction to a label that’s always looking forward. All of the tracks on the album are new, original recordings. Stones Throw Records will begin distributing select Leaving Records releases, starting with The Cyclist’s debut album in early 2013.
