Fresh from the banks of the James River in Richmond, Virginia, Rikki Rakki is back with Snaggletooth, a fuzz‑soaked indie twang anthem that feels like sunshine breaking through storm clouds. Imagine late‑morning light dappling your backyard as you watch cats chase butterflies and dogs bark at buzzing bees—that’s the peaceful pocket Erika Blatnik found when she penned this song, a reminder to cherish the little moments amid life’s chaos.
Snaggletooth is the first taste of Rikki Rakki’s upcoming EP, ‘Sing, Cicadas!,’ landing everywhere on May 2nd. Across five tracks, the band builds a lush soundscape of throaty guitars, gentle chamber‑pop flourishes, and earthy alt‑country vibes—complete with the hum of cicadas, the croak of frogs, and the gentle rush of river water. It’s an ode to nature’s resilience and the way fresh air and good friends can lift you out of even the darkest headlines.
Recorded at Spacebomb Studio in Richmond (with a little help from John Trainum) and in the band’s own home setups, ‘Sing, Cicadas!’ brings back the lineup from Breaking Skin: Erika Blatnik on vocals and guitar, Matt Luger weaving synth magic, Andy Brown laying down the bass, and Jay Kole driving the rhythms. Together, they’ve crafted an EP that feels both spacious and heartfelt, exploring our connection to the world around us—and the eco‑anxieties we all carry.
