A Place To Bury Strangers Announce New Album

MP3: A Place To Bury Strangers – You Are The One

Place To Bury Strangers’ Oliver Ackermann (vocals / guitars / Death by Audio effects genius) and Dion Lunadon (bassist) continue what began with their last EP, Onwards to the Wall, by drawing on krautrock, dream-pop, and 80s goth without ever losing the core APTBS sound.

“This album was written, recorded, mixed and mastered by A Place To Bury Strangers. It is our vision of what our music should sound like in 2012, not someone else’s interpretation,” says Lunadon. “Every sound on the album is made by us and our tools; tools created by us, used on no other recordings, and purposefully built for this project. This is real. Some of it is the band being in complete control — bending, shaping and building the songs and the sounds. Other parts are the band relinquishing control and letting the songs and sounds take over and produce themselves. We are not trying to reinvent ourselves, but simply push ourselves further in all aspects of our music.”

“We made this, we recorded this, we did everything,” adds Ackermann. “Yes, we chose to do this and no, we didn’t have to but we think it is pretty cool. No producer made us. We didn’t go to school for any of this and we don’t have time for tutorials. We invented this and now we are sharing it with you.”

A Place To Bury Strangers Get Remixed By School Of Seven Bells

School Of Seven Bells have reworked A Place To Bury Strangers’ ‘So Far Away’ which is lifted from the Onwards To The Wall EP. In this remix, the base elements are still there from  the APTBS sound – sharp drum beats, spaced out vocals, and atmospheric guitars but the fuzzed out, ear-drum splitting distortion from the original is not included in the remix. This is a softer gentler APTBS bought on via School Of Seven Bells. You can listen to both versions below.

New Release: A Place To Bury Strangers Announce New EP and Label Switch Up

It is no secret that Culture Addicts loves anything A Place To Bury Strangers releases, but hearing that they were parting ways with Mute got us a bit nervous. Luckily, A Place to Bury Strangers have found a new home after signing with Dead Oceans who will release their new EP, Onwards to the Wall, on February 7, 2012.

Produced, mixed and engineered entirely by the band, the EP will not disappoint anyone who liked their previous releases. On the track ‘So Far Away’, they deliver their token razor sharp, distortion infused sound. We are looking forward to hearing the other tracks from the release.

Onwards to the Wall Tracklisting
1. I Lost You
2. So Far Away
3. Onwards To The Wall
4. It’ll Be Alright
5. Drill It Up
