Hey Mother Death will be releasing their acclaimed debut album ‘Highway’ on Paper Bag Records on July 10th – Pre-order Highway here. In the lead-up to the release, the band have revealed a number of remixes in including Snake Power by Jay Crocker (listen) and The Hills by Chuck Blazevic (listen). About the song/video, NPR Music comments, “The video…which borders on synesthesia in its degree of sensuality, uses evocative fast cuts as Worden and others writhe and reckon with their own flesh…Worden sings with unfiltered empathy and warmth, particularly to herself, pushing her own limitations and writing her intentions onto her skin.”
In celebration of their 100th release, Toronto-based indie label, Paper Bag Records presents #PAPER100 – an evening of music from Paper Bag Records’ extensive catalogue featuring special performances by bands from the label’s past, present and future.

Paper Bag Records has announced the addition of Hey Mother Death to their artist roster. Hey Mother Death is the partnership of Laurence Strelka and Denma Peisinger, coming together from Paris and Nova Scotia respectively. Paper Bag Records will be showcasing at the 2015 SXSW Music Festival in Austin. The Parish Underground (214 East 6th) will host the label’s showcase on the evening of Friday, March 20 and will be co-presented by the recently launched tinyrecordshop.com.
Wayne Petti will open the show with his psych-pop project Grey Lands, followed by Ottawa-based folk outfit The Acorn, indie-rock bands Frog Eyes and Elliott Brood, and rock ‘n’ roll duo PS I Love You with Princess Century, the side project of Austra’s Maya Postepski, closing things out.
Austra are closing the year out by playing a show at The Opera House on Friday, December 19th in Toronto. The band will be supported by Blue Hawaii, Petra Glynt with a special performance by the Chinese Opera of the Soong Kam Wing Music and Arts Centre, to whom a portion of the show’s proceeds will be donated.
