SBTRKT Remixed By Thom Yorke?

SBTRKT will release a new 12″ on May 8th through XL for his track ‘Hold On’ featuring a remix by mystery remixer SiSi BakBak which is rumoured to in fact be Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke. The digital version will be out this coming Monday. A Beggars Group publicist could not confirm that Sisi BakBak is in fact the Radiohead frontman.

So is the rumour in fact true? Here’s the evidence for you to ponder…

  1. KEXP 90.3 FM host Cheryl Waters claimed that the remix was by someone who will play Seattle’s Key Arena in April, and Radiohead is playing the venue on April 9.
  2. Rob da Bank from the BBC tweeted, “listening to the thom yorke mix of @SBTRKT for the 18th time…unbeatable!”
  3. SBTRKT remixed Radiohead on TKOL RMX 1234567, and could Thom Yorke be returning the favour?
  4. The track sounds kind of like Kid A-era Radiohead.

Take a listen decide for yourself – rumour or not?

Coachella Announces 2012 Festival Line Up

Today, Coachella announced its much anticipated 2012 line up. Headliners for the three-day event are the Black Keys, Radiohead, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg but it is actually the other acts that are more interesting. Other interesting performers, and Culture Addicts faves are M83, The Horrors, EMA, Jacques Lu Cont, Metronomy and Wild Flag to name a few. There will also be two buzz-worthy band reunions – both getting back together for the festival are At the Drive-In and Refused. New for 2012, the festival will take place over two weekends (April 13-15 and April 20-22) with the line-up repeating twice over the two weekends.

Who do you want to see at the festival this year? View the full lineup in the poster below.

New Release: Radiohead – TKOL RMX 1234567

Available today (October 10th) is the double album of The King Of Limbs remixes (TKOL RMX 1234567). It can be purchased from the following retailers.

Amazon | Rough Trade | TKOL Store | iTunes | Piccadilly Records

Thom Yorke from the band said the following when talking about the remix album.

“I was really curious to see how the people I was listening to so much would use what we gave them. I didn’t just want floor fillers and all that shit, I just wanted to see how the songs could really branch out and mutate.

I love that there is such a culture of remixing at the moment, all this flow of ideas. It may come outta the club scene but to me there is a lot more to it than that.

I think it appeals to us as a band at the moment that ideas and versions are not so fixed and set in stone, it feels kind of healthy for music.”
