Merge Records Signs Bob Mould To Roster

Merge Records has announced their signing of Bob Mould (legendary Hüsker Dü/Sugar frontman) to their artist roster. Bob Mould recorded his new album which will be released this fall with his band mates Jon Wurster (Superchunk, the Mountain Goats) and Jason Narducy (Telekinesis, Robert Pollard Band).

Bob, Jason & Jon will join the Merge showcase line-up of bands including Hospitality, Eleanor Friedberger, M. Ward, Imperial Teen, Crooked Fingers, and the Love Language in Austin, TX at Merge Record’s SXSW showcase on Friday, March 16 at Frank.

Bob Mould will perform Sugar’s Copper Blue album in its entirety at the MOG party at SXSW on Saturday, March 17 at Mohawk.

Guess who is back at SXSW? Ghostly International returns to Austin this year with a showcase that highlights a bunch of their artists who have released records in the past year. The Ghostly showcase is happening on March 14 @ Club Deville located 900 Red River, Austin, TX.

In addition to the showcase, a bunch of artists on the Ghostly roster are playing other shows during SXSW.

Vanbot Releases Latest Single

Vanbot (Ester Ideskog’s new alias) today released her new single, ‘Got To Get Out’ which is a retro synth pop track. In the studio, Vanbot’s dreams can fly freely to compose electronic soundscapes inspired by synthesizers and drum machines.

Vanbot writes all of her own material and her music is produced by companion Sebastian Forslund who also worked with Swede indie artists I Break Horses, Blackstrap and Loney, Dear. Her self-titled debut album was released last spring and followed by a remix EP with work from Niva, Fear of Tigers and Bremen. Already highly recognized in Europe, Vanbot is now hitting US with upcoming shows at SXSW with fellow Swedes Niki & The Dove, Serenades plus opening for legendary Roky Erickson - presented by FILTER, Peace & Love Festival, Bilda and Export Music Sweden.

Crooked Fingers Release New Video

Crooked Fingers have released the new video for their track ’Our New Favorite’ lifted from their album ‘Breaks in the Armor’. The clip was directed and edited by James Fleischel.

 

Crooked Fingers will be at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles on February 29 and will also be in Austin, TX for the Merge Records showcase at the SXSW Music Festival beginning March 14.

The Balconies Release New Video From Forthcoming EP

Today, The Balconies released their new music video for their track ‘Kill Count’ which is the lead single from their forthcoming Kill Count EP. The Toronto-based will officially release the Kill Count EP on February 28th via Coalition/Warner. The music video was produced by Anna Junger and directed by Alon Isocianu at Reactiv Pictures.


The 5 song Kill Count EP will be available digitally and physically across Canada on February 28th, 2012. The band will tour in support of the new release with dates in Ontario and the east coast (to be announced soon) before heading to South by Southwest Festival, returning home for Canadian Music Week and performing at Edgefest in the summer.
