Emerging from the void with an electrifying pulse, Total Fucking Darkness returns with Take It Easy—a rave anthem that makes you want to dance until you can’t tell if you’re laughing or crying. The song’s title is a wink at life’s absurdity, a sarcastic nod as the world spins out of control. And as chaos reigns, Total Fucking Darkness just keeps grinning.

Total Fucking Darkness is Stars’ Torquil Campbell + Young Galaxy’s Stephen Ramsay with production by Tom McFall.
Crafted in the moment, Take It Easy was born out of sheer defiance. Torquil Campbell (yes, the guy who once voiced a cartoon badger) scribbled the lyrics while experiencing the track live—a move that still leaves his bandmates, Stephen Ramsay (the effortlessly cool, tall wonder) and Tom McFall (the English studio mastermind whose credits boast REM, Bloc Party, Twin Shadow, and Regina Spektor), both scratching their heads in disbelief.
And then, there’s the unexpected twist: sheep.
“There are sheep in the track. It’s not the first time I’ve heard sheep featured in a song this year. Honestly, any song that includes sheep is a winner—no bad song ever mentions or even features them. Just think about it.” – Stephen Ramsay
Some say lovely little people shed tears when they see piggies soar.
“This isn’t your run-of-the-mill, overly polished music. This song should feel like that satisfying bit of fibreglass under your fingernail—in the best possible way.” – Stephen Ramsay
What cradles the stars in the sky? Total fucking darkness.
Where can you truly let loose? In total fucking darkness.
Who’s about to become your new favourite dance act? Total fucking darkness.
Mark your calendars for the inaugural Total Fucking Darkness party—May 29th, 2025, at Newspeak in Montreal. This isn’t just any dance music; it’s a full-throttle experience. Forget the clichés—no hippies, jocks, nerds, or bullies allowed. Ravers only, even if you’ve never stepped out before. Pirates get a cheeky 20% off at the door with proof of piracy (parrot, eyepatch, whatever you’ve got). Don your sunglasses, slap on a gas mask, and bring that rebellious spirit. It’s going to be one unforgettable fête. Total fucking darkness, forever. And while you’re at it, why not pray for the devil to kick the bucket?
