The album was produced by TMSR’s Ryan Lenssen and mixed by David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene/Super Furry Animals/Los Campesinos!). The band will return to the stage next Thursday (August 13), for an intimate performance at The Dakota Tavern. You can find out more about the show here or buy tickets here.

The Most Serene Republic emerged in 2005, still holding on to their teens, capturing all the wide-eyed wonder of youth with their debut album, ‘Underwater Cinematographer,’ released via Arts & Crafts. Three full-length albums, two EPs, multiple tours across North America and Europe supporting The Strokes, Broken Social Scene, Metric, Stars, a great deal of positive press, and devoted followers were accrued.

While merely a blip in terms of the universe, it can seem like a lifetime between when an elongated adolescence through the vehicle of artistry is left behind and adulthood is embraced. And so it is, that these six best of friends returned to making music through a very different lens, yet somehow managing to still capture all the impossibly beautiful things and the essence of what made their universe so special.

Here’s a vintage video for Content Always Was My Favourite Colour from ‘Underwater Cinematographer’.
