Montreal twin-sister duo, The Muscadettes, have announced their second EP of 2015, ‘Side B,’ with a premiere of the first single Earthquake. Take a listen to the track via Soundcloud below. ‘Side B’ is due out on November 6 via PaperCup Music, and follows ‘Side A,’ released in April of this year. Pre-order ‘Side B’ here.
Side A featured two singles, I’m In Love, which was featured in T-Mobile’s Valentine’s ad campaign, and named “Song of the Day” by The Line Of Best Fit, who called it, “quite literally sunshine and fresh air wafting from the speakers.” Pearl & Oyster arrived via Consequence of Sound, who said, “[The Muscadettes] laser in on its grooves with the sort of precision that probably only comes from musicians who used to share a zygote,” and was picked up by SPIN for their weekly Mix Tape.
Chantal and Kathleen Ambridge were born in Silicon Valley but raised in Montreal, and that dichotomy comes through in their music, influenced by ’60s surf and ’90s grunge, creating an energetic rock, balanced out by sugary vocal harmonies only sisters could deliver. The Ambridge sisters, joined by Joe Gagné (Les Breastfeeders) and Thomas Augustin (Malajube) recorded Side A with Ryan Battistuzzi (Malajube) at Montreal’s Breakglass Studio, and was mixed in Los Angeles with Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast/Fidlar).
They also announced three CMJ Music Marathon performances in New York, Oct. 13-17 (details below).
10/13 – New York, NY @ Rockwood (CMJ)
10/16 – New York, NY @ Arlene’s Grocery (M for Montreal/CMJ)
10/17 – New York, Y @ Elvis’ Guesthouse (4:15pm, PaperCup Music/CMJ Day Party)
