Watford’s very own mod survivors, The Spitfires, are back—and they’re back in a big way. After a three-year silence, this eclectic, energetic British quartet has returned with their powerful new single, Better The Devil You Know, and a thrilling announcement of nine UK & Ireland tour dates.
New Music & Limited-Edition Vinyl
This comeback track isn’t just a digital drop—it’s also available on an ultra-limited 7” vinyl. Only 300 copies exist, with the first 150 personally signed by the band. The vinyl also includes an exclusive B-side, A Man Out Of Time (Le SuperHomard Remix), making it a must-have collectible for fans.
A Fresh Chapter in a Storied History
Better The Devil You Know marks more than just a return; it’s a nod to the band’s dynamic past and a bold step into the future. From the buzz of their 2015 debut single, 4am, to the self-released debut album ‘Response,’ The Spitfires have always delivered a blend of punk, indie, and ska. Now, with a refreshed lineup led by the ever-charismatic Billy Sullivan, they’re turning the page to an exciting new chapter.
On Tour Across the UK & Ireland
Catch The Spitfires live as they hit the road with nine tour dates, kicking off at Esquires in Bedford on Friday, 18 April 2025, and wrapping up at London’s Koko on Friday, 23 May 2025. These shows are more than gigs—they’re communal experiences, full of the raw energy and passion that has defined the band over a decade of music.
A Message That Hits Home
In Better The Devil You Know, Sullivan’s lyrics dig deep into today’s turbulent global climate. “The song is about the current situation in the Middle East,” he explains, “but it really relates to all forms of war. In 2025, it’s hard to fathom that conflicts driven by religion or greed still tear countries apart and cost countless lives. It’s time to stop putting profit before peace.” This raw, reflective message underscores the band’s commitment to speaking truth to power.
The Road Ahead
While fans eagerly anticipate further new music and hints of a long-awaited sixth album, The Spitfires are already making waves on the live circuit. Their new lineup—featuring Liam Taylor on guitar, Sam Dimond on bass, and Euan Crawford-McKee on drums—joins Sullivan on lead vocals and guitar, promising even more electrifying performances this spring.
