‘UNA’ comes to Canadian theatres October 20

UNA stillABMO Films invites Canadians to find their truth with the highly anticipated release of the suspenseful drama, ‘UNA,’ releasing in select Canadian theatres starting Friday, October 20.

Starring Rooney Mara, Ben Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed, ‘UNA’ made its world premiere at the 2016 Telluride Film Festival and was acquired by Canadian distributor ABMO Films after its premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.

‘UNA’ follows a young woman’s journey to reclaim her past. Fifteen years earlier, Una ran away with an older man, Ray, a crime for which he was arrested and imprisoned. When she comes across a photo of him in a trade magazine, Una tracks him down and turns up at his workplace. Her abrupt arrival threatens to destroy Ray’s new life and derail her stability. Unspoken secrets and buried memories surface as Una and Ray sift through the wreckage of their past.

Directed by Benedict Andrews, ‘UNA’ is produced by Bron Creative, Jean Doumanian Productions, WestEnd Films and Film4 Productions. The story is written by David Harrower based on his play ‘Blackbird’. The film’s cast includes Rooney Mara, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed, David Shields and Tara Fitzgerald.
