White Lies have shared their brand new track Hurt My Heart. Recorded in Los Angeles whilst on hiatus, for what has been a busy year traversing various continents in support of album ‘Five,’ released earlier this year via [PIAS] Recordings. Hurt My Heart is one of a couple of tracks the band recently recorded with US producer Andrew Wells, and it sits neatly amongst the other songs on ‘Five’. Like other singles from the ‘Five’ album, Hurt My Heart has received a braille inspired lyric video for the launch. Check out the video clip via Youtube below.
Lending some context Charles Cave, lyricist and bass-player explains the recent studio sojourn; “For ten years we have stayed loyal to the album format – only sitting down to write and then record when it was time for a new complete work. Whilst there is a lot of love about that process, it is something of an endurance exercise. We decided it was about time to see what happened if we just wrote a few things with the idea to release music disconnected from an LP; something that could sit within the same universe as ‘Five’.”
Re-energised by the release of ‘Five,’ the trio have been scaling new creative heights, exhibiting much of the trio’s musical DNA from their origins whilst forging ahead artistically. Hurt My Heart continues to exploit the band’s recent trajectory – an emphatic flourish countering their bold live show. 2019 marks the tenth anniversary of their debut album ‘To Lose My Life’ and the band embark on a European tour to celebrate the fact with shows throughout November and December prior to which they have a run of Russian, Ukrainian and Spanish dates – the full itinerary is listed on the band’s site: www.whitelies.com.
