York’s slacker rock outfit Bull have shared the video for their new single Bedroom Floor. The track is a depressing song about self-deprecation, thinking and saying things you don’t mean whilst growing to dislike your own voice. Check out Bedroom Floor via YouTube below.

Bedroom Floor is the newest audiovisual creation from York’s four piece Bull, and a follow up to their single Love Goo which came out in September 2019.

Written back in 2015, Bedroom Floor was resurrected with the new band members. Just like many of Bull’s previous releases, it was recorded with Remko Schouten of Amsterdam’s Ijland Studios, whose mixing and recording techniques have now become a standard alongside Bull’s absorbing songwriting.

The track is partially built up on a guitar riff repeated in the chorus, it also features a tape effect right at the start and a nice guitar solo by Dan (lead guitar), which follows the melody line in an understanding sort of way.

The accompanying video starring Bull’s friend Cees (whom they met through Canshaker Pi when they went on tour together) and, most importantly, Dutch subtitles are a nod to Bull’s growing fame and fanbase in The Netherlands – one can often find them travelling, recording, and gigging there with friends and other local acts they’ve befriended over the years.

More on Bull?

This York-based slacker outfit have been gaining some strong momentum that has seen them played on Radio 6 by Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson, and recently supporting bands such as Spiral Stairs, Squid, The Orielles, Pip Blom and Canshaker Pi.

The York-based four piece Bull play songs in the style of Pavement / Pixies / Pumpkins and anything else amazing that begins with a P. They are often melodic, sometimes frantic, dynamic and always unpredictable.

In the spring of 2017 Tom Beer, Dan Lucas, Kai Wst and Tom Gabbatiss decided on a whim to go to Germany. Their planning was extremely minimal. They built a suitcase drum kit, packed up their shit and took off on their first trip abroad together. They slept in the basement of YMCA and went about the business of successfully booking a two night dive bar tour of Berlin.

As fate would have it, the band crossed paths with Spiral Stairs (Pavement). They took a liking to Bull and agreed, along with Dutch rock royalty Canshaker Pi, to play at the band’s impromptu house party the following night. Live sound engineer and producer Remko Schouten (Pavement, The Jicks, Sun Kill Moon) ran the rig at the house party and afterwards invited Bull to record with him in Amsterdam. This chance meeting allowed Bull to realise the classic childhood dream, playing their way through Europe and all the way to Austin, Texas for SXSW.
