Dee Snider’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Christmas Tale opens in Toronto

Dee Snider

Earlier this week at the Winter Garden Theatre, we attended the Opening Night performance of Dee Snider’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Christmas Tale, presented by Revonoy Productions and Starvox Entertainment.

Legendary rock star and the creator and narrator of the show Dee Snider (yep, he’s the lead singer from Twisted Sister), along with co-star and Grammy-Award winning singer Taylor Dayne, walked the red carpet before hitting the stage.

It was a packed theatre with over 500 guests, who came to see the comedic holiday musical that tells the story of a heavy metal band who are forever stuck in the 80s. To achieve fame, they make a deal with the devil which leaves them only able to sing head-banging Christmas carols. It’s pretty much what you’d expect at this type of show – nothing sophisticated or deep here, but it’s still entertaining enough to keep your attention.

Some of the celebrities that attended the red carpet opening night were Barenaked Ladies lead guitarist Ed Robertson (didn’t he also perform at the Andy Kim concert that night as well?), actors Annie Murphy (from Schitt’s Creek), Ashleigh Rains (from My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2), Meghan Heffern ( from Backpackers), Angela Asher (from Hard Rock Medical), Rachael Ancheril (from Rookie Blue), Arwen Humphreys, Mouna Traore, and Lachlan Murdoch (all three are from Murdoch Mysteries), Suresh John (from Mr. D),  Chloe Wilde (E! Canada host) and Jennifer Valentyne (Breakfast Television Toronto host).
