Big news out of à La Carte Records: Cure For Youth, the LA post-punk quartet, have announced their debut LP and dropped the first single and music video to go with it. “New Rose Bloom” is out now, with the full record, ‘Synthetic World,’ following on October 30.

Cure For Youth — Scott Savarie (vocals, bass), Catarina Teles (synth, vocals), Connor McKenna (guitar), and Nicolas Sturz (drums) — formed in LA in 2024 and spent two EPs sharpening a sound that splits the difference between early-80s post-punk and the muscle of bands who came up in the hardcore pit. ‘Synthetic World’ is where that combination finally clicks into place: twelve songs, thirty-five minutes, zero filler. Hook-heavy post-punk soaked in reverb, chorus, and delay, but never so much that you lose the snap of four musicians who know exactly what they’re doing in a room together.
The reference points are obvious and well-earned — Joy Division at its most razor-edged, Ceremony or The Men once they figured out tempo. Songs here know how to downshift without losing tension, and how to speed up without losing the melody. Lyrically, the record sits in the present tense: modern life as an attention problem, loss as something that shows up uninvited, and the kind of political weight a record made right now can’t really avoid without going numb. Recorded and mixed by Alex Jacobelli at Sunsick Studios in LA, mastered by Andrew Oswald — it’s a record that sounds personal up close and inevitable from a distance.
