Philadelphia gloom-rock outfit Bruise Bath have announced their new self-titled album, out November 6 via Strange Mono Records (pre-order), and shared its crushing lead single, Blood On My Tongue, out now on all platforms.
What started as guitarist/vocalist Zak Krone’s solo project has spent nearly a decade morphing into a full six-piece creative collective — and ‘Bruise Bath’ finds the band at their most collaborative and most devastating. Recorded, engineered, and produced by Sean Reilly at Philadelphia’s Studio North, the record leans hard into the band’s post-metal, doom-adjacent influences (think Slint, Pixies, Wind’s Poem-era Mount Eerie, Pallbearer, Butthole Surfers) with two tracks stripping drums entirely.
The album channels collective grief into something communal — mourning as connection rather than isolation.
“Bruise Bath is about appreciating the wildfire smoke from 500 miles away for blocking out the rays of the sun so that the heat dome boiling your home is slightly mitigated. Bruise Bath is about hunkering down with the ones you love because you have no other choice.“
Mastered by James Plotkin, the eight-track LP is described as the band’s darkest work yet — lethargic, despondent, and unflinching in its reflection of a world in perpetual mourning.
