Goodnight Nobody blur the lines between dischord tension and Kill Rock Stars adventure on debut single ‘Aurora’

Goodnight Nobody

Goodnight Nobody’s music melds the knotty rhythms and dissonance of noise and math rock with the melodic hooks of indie rock for a sound that contains multitudes. Listen to and watch the trio’s debut single/video for Aurora now.

The band’s self-titled debut arrives via Sweet Cheetah Records on September 18 and is available for pre-order.

“Goodnight Nobody treats its influences like building blocks instead of blueprints. Those familiar roots are all here with Dischord’s tension, Kill Rock Stars’ adventurous streak, emo’s heart, and math rock’s rhythmic turns — they’re assembled into something that feels fresh rather than familiar. This is a band with a fully formed vision on their first record, and that’s rarer than it should be.” — The Fire Note

From the Green Mountain State

The Vermont-based three-piece unleash their self-titled debut, ‘Goodnight Nobody’, straight from the Green Mountain State. Recorded at Magpie Cage studio in the aftermath of a rare Baltimore snowstorm in February 2026 with J. Robbins at the helm, these eight tracks pull from a deep well of influences — melodic, angular, angry, and vulnerable, often within the same song. The record channels the ’90s rosters of labels like Dischord and Kill Rock Stars while weaving in second-wave emo plus 2000s indie and math rock.

Heavy riffs dissolve into pretty, atmospheric passages; tense, interlocking layers explode into cathartic crescendos — all unified by arrangements that are intricate but intuitive. Hailing from the wilds of northern Vermont, Jason Dean (guitar, vocals), formerly of Seattle noise rock outfit Mutiny Mutiny, brings the squalling noise atop the dynamic, flowing rhythmic foundation built by Ben Glassman (bass) and Nich Kramer (drums).

‘Goodnight Nobody’ marks the culmination of the band’s first chapter. New England shows are currently being planned around the record’s release, and a fresh batch of songs is already in the works. Stay tuned.
