Vancouver’s resident noise-punk chaos agents PISS are finally doing the thing — their debut album, ‘you made me / skin on linen’, drops October 30, 2026 via Paper Bag Records (Canada) and Sub Pop (everywhere else). The four-piece has never been easy to pin down, splicing punk, poetry, sound collage, and performance art into something that lives right at the intersection of the personal and the political, and this record is no exception.
‘you made me / skin on linen’ digs into a childhood shaped by structural, systemic, and intimate violence, using art-making as a recurring metaphor for how that kind of harm lingers in the body. Songwriter, singer, and poet Taylor Zantingh has been circling this material for a long time: “I have been writing about this subject matter for my whole life. Turning the same events over and over again in my mind. In many ways, the album, the broader art project, and the videos are all a continuation of this pursuit. We approach every single choice with this project—artistic, business, marketing, etc—by filtering our decisions through a tiered system that prioritizes what’s best for the record and our audience, and then ourselves.”
The First Taste: Time Loop at Hot Slit
Today’s offering, time loop at hot slit, is a frantic, danceable slab of noise-punk that stares straight into girlhood under a culture obsessed with sexualizing it. The lyrics are witty and poetic even as they’re wailed in anguish, leaning on a “gluestick” image — a mouth stuck shut, a girl silenced out of self-advocacy — to trace how early exposure to a porn-sick, youth-obsessed culture warps self-image into a cycle of exploitation and objectification.
The video was co-directed by frontperson Taylor Zantingh and Vivyen Sagsen, filmed at the now-shuttered Vancouver DIY space Take Yr Time Back. Zantingh on the community behind it: “Some of the people with whom I shared the earliest version of ‘time loop at hot slit’ take the stage to sing it themselves. Our local scene has been singing this song with us for two years!! It’s very exciting to finally share it with the world, but no matter where it ends up, it will always belong to the femmes, queers, and weirdos in the Vancouver underground community <3″
Vinyl & Pre-Order Details
‘you made me / skin on linen’ is up for pre-order now via Paper Bag Records, Sub Pop, and Bandcamp. All LP pre-orders come on Baby Pink vinyl, with a Baby Pink/Grey Blend variant exclusive to Bandcamp and the band’s live shows while supplies last.
PISS is also teaming up with autonomous spaces and radical community hubs across North America to get free copies of the record into circulation. Through October 30, fans can add a discounted extra copy to their order to be donated to one of these spaces. In the band’s words: “The purpose of this project is to increase the accessibility of physical copies of the record, but I also hope it will encourage anyone who enjoys our music to connect with other radicals in their communities! It is more important than ever to lean into offline, autonomous social spaces. We cannot build a real movement by communicating with tools built and controlled by the powers we aim to challenge!“
