Album review: A Book Of Wanderers – A Book Of Wanderers

A Book For Wanderers

A Book For Wanderers is a solo project by Niagara Falls-based artist Anthony Botting. His self-titled debut was recently released and contains a whopping 15 tracks. The album kicks off with Seasons which sounds very Primal Scream circa ‘Screamadelica’-esque and this got my ears all perked up since ‘Screamadelica’ is a Culture Addicts favourite. Unfortunately, this sound did not continue to other tracks. The album took a sharp left down a 90’s grunge / softer new metal vein on track 2 through the rest of the album. Think Pearl Jam meets Our Lady Peace mix in some I Mother Earth – can you say looking to the past (yawn)?. Take a listen to ‘A Book Of Wanderers’ via Soundcloud below.

If grunge type rock’n’roll that has a Canadian bent sound, this album would be perfect for you. There are some serious rock vocals and riffs on this debut, and the lyrics are suited well to your summertime backyard keg party and sound like they were written by frat boys. Pop in the album, grab a beer, and high five your bros.

A Book Of Wanderers will be playing some live dates in the coming months, here’s a list:
