Ash are officially back in orbit. The legendary Northern Irish trio have announced their ninth studio album, ‘Ad Astra,’ landing October 3rd via Fierce Panda—and it’s shaping up to be an intergalactic blast of fuzzed-out power-pop, cosmic riffage, and surprise guests.
Kicking off the journey is lead single Give Me Back My World, a fiery anthem that wrestles with the chaos of recent years and fights to reclaim something real, raw, and hopeful. “Have you ever felt the rug pulled from under you?” asks frontman Tim Wheeler. “I think we’ve all had those moments. This song rails against that loss—and it’s a total banger.” Hard agree.
Cosmic Companions and Classic Ash Energy
‘Ad Astra’ is twelve brand new tracks of classic Ash energy with a few wild new flourishes. It’s got the snarling, melodic bite fans love, plus a few genre-warping detours—and even a couple of killer collabs with none other than Graham Coxon of Blur fame. He lends his unmistakable guitar magic to the punchy chaos of Fun People and closes out the record on the title track.
And yes, Ash even take on the immortal Jump In The Line (yes, the Beetlejuice banger) and put their noisy, neon spin on it.
If 2022’s ‘Race The Night’ lit the fuse, ‘Ad Astra’ is the rocket ride that follows. It’s a bold reminder that this band—nearly 30 years in—is still flying full throttle.
A Galaxy’s Worth of Highlights
- Hallion blasts off with punk heat.
- My Favourite Ghost floats in lush, acoustic elegance.
- Which One Do You Want? jangles with Marr-esque charm.
- Keep Dreaming grinds with big, crunchy swagger.
- And the title track? An emotional, starry-eyed closer that brings it all full circle.
As drummer Rick McMurray puts it: “The title ‘Ad Astra’ points to ideas from 1995, updated with 30 years of life experience… The optimistic innocence might have shifted, but if you look to the stars, you might still feel a glimmer. Of hope.”
Touring Like They Never Left
Ash haven’t just been in the studio—they’ve been everywhere. Since ‘Race The Night,’ they’ve smashed SXSW, played Brit Week at the 100 Club, headlined Latitude’s Other Stage tent, and even matched Van Morrison’s record with their eighth Glasto appearance. And they’re not stopping any time soon.
They’ve got a packed live calendar running well into 2026, including UK, Ireland, Spain, Japan, and everywhere in between. Expect sweat, riffs, nostalgia, and some fresh chaos from Ad Astra’s setlist.
