Ash has dropped their brand-new single, Jump In The Line, and it’s bursting with energy and irreverence.
Inspired by a nod to the cult classic Evil Dead, the video—crafted by director Anthony Neale—features an offbeat narrative that perfectly matches the song’s vibe. With only Tim Wheeler on hand for the shoot, Neale spun a tale that taps into Tim’s natural on-screen magnetism, blending horror elements with rock ‘n’ roll antics. Think quirky kitchen battles, a possessed girlfriend who just won’t quit dancing, and a touch of madcap mayhem that feels as fun as it is unpredictable.
The band, hailing from Northern Ireland and known for their ceaseless exuberance, have given a fresh spin to Harry Belafonte’s timeless 1961 classic. On tour with The Darkness, they wowed audiences with a live rendition that clearly left its mark. “‘Jump In The Line’ has been our go-to outro for years—it’s embedded in our DNA. We remixed it into something raw, tribute-like, and unmistakably Ash with a frenetic tempo, catchy hooks, and even a face-melting solo,” the trio shares. Their description captures the wild, in-your-face spirit of the track, culminating in Mr. Hamilton’s signature blood-curdling scream that fans have come to love.
After the success of their Race The Night album, which recently climbed to number 14 on the UK charts—their highest in two decades—Ash is riding high. Fresh off a memorable tour with The Darkness and gearing up for a headline slot on Glastonbury’s Avalon Stage this summer, the band is set to keep the momentum rolling.
