Bibi Club is turning up the heat once again with an announcement that’s impossible to ignore. The Montreal duo is set to release a deluxe edition of their acclaimed 2024 album, ‘Feu de garde (les braises),’ on May 9th through Secret City Records. This reissue marks the one-year anniversary of the original album and brings four fresh tracks to the mix, including a reworked gem featuring Calvin Johnson and a hypnotic cover of Stereolab’s Orgiastic that’s already making waves.
Critics are raving. Exclaim! calls the album “one of 2024’s must-hear strokes of genius,” while Paste praises its inventive blend of jangly, synthy pop and guitar-driven post-punk—a cocktail that hints at Stereolab, The Notwist, and something entirely original. Brooklyn Vegan even crowned it Album of the Week, noting its transportive quality that taps into hidden corners of the heart.
In this deluxe edition, lead duo Adèle Trottier-Rivard and Nicolas Basque (also known for their work with Plants and Animals) pay tribute to a musical giant. “Stereolab has been a landmark band in my life,” explains Trottier-Rivard, recalling how Orgiastic accompanied one of her most unforgettable moments. Their rendition stays true to the classic while weaving in a hypnotic, modern twist that’s all their own.
But that’s not all—Bibi Club is also gearing up for a live return. Fresh off a buzz-worthy debut at NYC’s New Colossus festival (where they were hailed as a Must See Act by both Paste and Brooklyn Vegan), the band is set to ignite Montreal’s Osheaga Festival this August 2025, along with several Canadian tour dates this spring. Fans can also look out for a limited-edition 7-inch release featuring the reworked you can wear a jacket or a shirt feat. Calvin Johnson and Le feu II, with details on how to score a copy coming soon via the band’s socials.
Mixed by Ali Chant (who’s worked with PJ Harvey and Aldous Harding) and mastered by Matt Colton (of Depeche Mode and James Blake fame), ‘Feu de garde (les braises)’ is a vibrant, liberated collection of French pop/rock jewels. It’s an album that speaks to the power of community, the beauty of shared moments, and the resilience found in creative collaboration—a sonic celebration where every track kindles warmth and lights up the darkest winter nights.
